Mexican Christmas Punch

This festive and fruity drink is inspired by the traditional Mexican recipe for ponche navideƱo. Often served hot and during the holiday season. The aroma of warm cinnamon and fruits create the perfect mood for keeping you warm and merry during the holidays. This year serve up something warm and sweet, and with less calories for santa to enjoy in his sleigh.

Lipton tea is easy to brew either hot or iced. Make it your own by adding a few slices of fruit or garnishing with your favorite herbs and spices.

Fruit and 100% juices are an excellent way to add sweetness to beverages without the need for added sugars (i.e. granulated sugar). This recipe uses apples, pears, dried prunes and guava nectar. And this tasty recipe only has 40 calories!

Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 10 minutes

  1. 20 whole cloves
  2. 2 oranges, thickly sliced
  3. 1 1/2 quarts water
  4. 1 apple, cut into bite-size chunks
  5. 1 pear, cut into bite-size chunks
  6. 8 pitted prunes, halved
  7. 4 cinnamon sticks
  8. 2 Tbsp. firmly packed dark brown sugar
  9. 6 Lipton® Green Tea Bags
  10. 1 cup guava nectar
  11. 1 Tsp. Vanilla extract (optional)

  1. Stick cloves into skin of orange slices. Put water, orange slices, apple, pear, prunes and cinnamon sticks in 4 qt. pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes for fruit to soften and for flavors to develop.
  2. Stir in brown sugar. Remove from heat and add Lipton® Green Tea Bags; cover and steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and stir in nectar.
  3. Ladle punch and fruit into mugs.
