When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It #RiseAboveIt

{This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Pine-Sol® and Latina Bloggers Connect.}

The makers of Pine-Sol® Products has collaborated with actress and activist Rosie Perez to launch the ‘When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It’ campaign. The campaign will run from November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014, and women from across the country are encouraged to contribute their own stories of triumph to Pine-Sol’s moving collection of stories by visiting www.WomenRiseAboveIt.com or www.LasMujeresNoSeRinden.com.

As part of the campaign, Pine-Sol awarded a $25,000 donation to Women Empowered, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds, inspiring them to give back to their communities.

A survey conducted among women across the U.S. on behalf of Pine-Sol® found that most women say their biggest female role model is someone they know personally, not a celebrity and is most likely someone in their family.  I completely agree, one of my biggest role models and influences is my grandmother. I've seen her overcome so many obstacles and come out strong and she was always there for me as a child and continues to be a positive role model in my life today. To this day when ever I think of Pine-Sol, it reminds me of my grandmother because it's what she used to clean her floors everyday and I loved the smell.

Many of us women have had to overcome some sort of adversity or obstacle to get us where we are currently today. My obstacles have been to prove my independence, my financial independence. It all began in middle and high school. Teachers are suppose to be there to educate their students so that they can live a sucessful life and inspire them to be productive members of society and help mold their carrer path. There were some of my teachers in school that did the oppsite when they implied that I shouldn't try to hard on my assignments because when I grow up I can marry a rich man to take care of me financially. Uhm what?I couldn't believe I was hearing some of the things that I was told especially when I was a honor roll student. As an adult I feel that it's important to me to have my own source of income whether I'm married of not. Trey and I have been together for over six-years and I've always had my own money and source of income, I may not be bringing in a six figure income but I help provide for my family whether I bring in $100 or million dollars, the point is the same. I plan to teach my daughter the value of education of hard work, I want her to know that she needs to be independent and not rely on a man to provide for her.

Visit the site today and share your inspiring story about rising above your obstacles in life and you'll be entered into the sweepstakes. Once a week for 12 weeks, Pine-Sol® will award one lucky winner small tokens of appreciation. Flower bouquet + Pine Sol coupons (ARV: $150), Three first prize winners will receive complimentary house cleaning services for a year (ARV: $2,400), and one grand prize winner will be awarded an all-inclusive trip to enjoy a peaceful spa experience at a deluxe hotel (ARV: $5,000)
