Car Seat Safety Tips

• Chest clip should always be placed at armpit level. If the chest clip is too low, child  could be ejected from the car seat in the event of an accident. 
• AAP recommends that child remain rear-facing until the age of 2, or until they reach the maximum height and weight for their seat. New research has found that children are safer in rear-facing car seats. Many convertible seat can rear-face until 40 which for most child is around 4 years old. 
• Shoulder straps should be placed at or below shoulders for rear-facing and at or above shoulders for forward-facing position.
• Always use the teether strap when forward-facing. 
• Coats and puffy jackets should not be worn under the seat straps. Wearing a coat under the straps can cause the shoulder straps to slip and prevent the straps from tightening against your child body. Dress your child in thin and tight layers. Once strapped in, place their coat on them backwards or cover them with a blanket.
